Index Card a Day 3 ~ Week 1: Zebra

Here you see my response to the ICAD3 prompt for day one: "zebra."

I've got my index cards ready and a list of prompts from Daisy Yellow art blog.
It's going to be so much fun!

Today's prompt is zebra and ironically I discovered a red pen with a zebra print clip
in my pen cup at my work desk at school.

I created a collage of my pen from magazine paper
then made a background from scraps of paper from my journal fodder box.
The zebra printed paper in the background is actually a greeting card I saved
for occasions just like this one.

The printed text rectangle came from my old hardback book I paint and glue in

The quote from Hansen about inking not thinking was a result of a Bing search
for a suitable quote to accompany my zebra pen collage.
I wanted a quote that would tie together 'zebra' and the pen and be succinct. Bingo!

Mark Victor Hansen is the founder and co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
I interpret the quote as meaning "don't keep your thoughts to yourself, write then down."

I say "draw your thoughts; paint them and collage them and share them!"
